Promoting Sun Awareness this Spring – Atlas Healthcare and AXA PPP healthcare launch new Campaign

UV Sensor watches given free with every health insurance quotation until stocks last

Spring is in the air and although we all love being out in the sun, we need to become much more aware of how to manage our exposure. Atlas Healthcare and AXA PPP healthcare are promoting Sun Awareness this Spring and besides supporting the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Directorate’s Melanoma campaign, they are also giving away free UV sensor watches with every health insurance quote.

As part of the campaign Atlas will be disseminating information, sourced from the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Directorate, Malta to clients in an effort to change behavioural habits to protect us from our strong Maltese sun.   It is a fact that most skin cancers are linked to sunburn or prolonged exposure to the sun and nobody’s skin is completely safe.  Children’s skin is especially vulnerable.   Being safe in the sun doesn’t just reduce your risk of skin cancer, cataracts and other eye conditions; it also avoids premature wrinkling and the painful experience of sunburn.

The UV sensor watches come in two sizes and are available for children and adults. They have a special chemical compound that activates the sensors to change colour according to the intensity of the UV radiation.   This not helps you to protect your family against dangerous UV rays from the sun, but is also a fun way to teach your kids about the dangers of being unprotected when the sun is at its strongest.   It will also let you know when best to apply sun cream, wear shirt, put on a hat or all three.

While preventive care is not usually covered by standard health insurance policies, Atlas Healthcare and AXA PPP healthcare offer an innovative new Preventive Care Plus cover which is an optional extension to the standard health insurance policy which provides cover for various preventive tests including mammograms, bone density screening, eye-sight testing, dental check-ups and also skin cancer screening.
